Garlic
Garlic is an easy-to-grow crop that’s harvested in midsummer and planted in the fall. Farm-fresh garlic is typically harvested from June to August and can be found in the winter months when stored properly.
Buy It
When shopping for garlic, buy bulbs without blemishes and with dry skins and firm cloves. Store bulbs in a cool, dry place (NOT in the fridge).
Unbroken bulbs should last several months. Use individual cloves within 10 days.
Add It
From hot sauce to an aïoli to many of the classic dishes and even sauces, you can enjoy garlic! Garlic can be added to soups and stews to elevate dishes to a new level.
Prep It
First, you need to peel the garlic. The best way to peel garlic is to crush the bulb with the heel of your hand. From here, use the knife blade on a clove and press down on the blade until the clove pops and the skin releases. You can then mince or slice your garlic.
