10 Things You’re Forgetting to Spring Clean

Is there anything more satisfying than coming home to a clean house? Yes, it can be overwhelming and needless to say time-consuming, but with this spring cleaning list of items in your home that need to be cleaned, you’ll be done in no time! It’s easy to forget to clean your washing machine or your oven, but if you have the time to do it, now is the time! Take five minutes or do each item on this list in one day! However you may do your spring cleaning remember this, you’ll have a cleaner and more liveable home in no time!

YOUR KITCHEN SINK

Can’t get rid of that stinky kitchen sink smell? Lemon rinds should do the trick! Throw your lemon rinds right into the garbage disposal, run water, and turn your garbage disposal on. This will help to dispel that stinky smell in your sink!

YOUR MICROWAVE

Do you dread cleaning the stains out of your microwave? Here’s the easiest trick for that! Take a microwave safe bowl and add water, a couple tbsp vinegar and a little lemon juice. Put this bowl in the microwave and microwave for a couple minutes, until it boils. This will create a steam inside the microwave. Finally, take a cloth and wipe it down clean.

YOUR COUNTERTOPS

Want to clean your countertops without using harsh chemicals? Then use my homemade Dr. Bronner’s solution. All you need is Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Soap, White Wine Vinegar, Tea Tree Oil, Lavender extract and filtered water in a spray bottle. You’ll never run out of surface cleaner again!

CUTTING BOARDS

Yes, even your cutting boards need a deep clean every now and then. The best way to do that, get some rock salt and and sprinkle onto your cutting board. Then, take half of a lemon scrub the salt with the lemon and rinse. It’s that easy!

YOUR FRIDGE

Need help getting those pesky stains out from the back of your fridge? That Dr. Bronner’s solution will certainly do the trick! You can also combine vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda and use a wash cloth to wipe down your fridge.

CAST IRON

Stuborn, dirty cast iron? Here’s an easy way to clean it once and for all! Add water to your cast iron and bring to a boil. Let it boil for a couple minutes and then pour it out and wipe it clean with paper towel. Newer cast irons are well coated, so you can use baking soda dust and scrub with water for more of an abrasive removal system and then add back in butter or olive oil.

NEVER USE SOAP

MAKEUP BRUSHES

Haven’t washed your makeup brushes in a while? It’s time to do so! You should be washing your makeup brushes at least once a week. So, here’s an easy way to do so! Fill a cup with warm water and shampoo and individually wash each brush. Rinse and lay flat to dry.

BEDDING

Don’t forget, you should be washing your bedding at least once a week! But, if you need help getting them extra clean, what I like to do is add baking soda and a little vinegar in addition to your laundry cycle.

MATTRESS

Want to keep your mattress longer than 5 years? Flip your mattress every 6 months or at least once a year! If you have a big mattress, make sure to ask someone for help… mattresses can be very heavy!

WASHING MACHINE

Remember, it’s important to clean your washing machine every now and then too! If you add lemon, baking soda, vinegar solution and do a rinse cycle this will help to clean your machine. Additionally, you can also take a lemon, cut in in half and rub it on the inside of your washing machine and then do a rinse cycle.
