Ingredients

  • ½ cup applesauce
  • ¼ cup creamy peanut butter (natural, unsweetened)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
  • 2 cups oat flour

Instructions

Dough
  1. In a bowl, combine the applesauce, peanut butter, egg, and melted coconut oil.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients together using a mixer or by hand.
  3. Add the oat flour and mix until well combined. The dough will be sticky.
Method 1 – Molds:
  1. Press the dough into silicone molds.
  2. Place the molds on a baking sheet.
Method 2 – Cutouts:
  1. Place the dough in the refrigerator for about 1 hour to firm up.
  2. Roll the chilled dough out onto a flat surface until it's about 1/3-inch thick.
  3. Use your preferred cookie cutter to cut out shapes. If the dough is still too sticky, add a little more oat flour.
  4. Gather the dough scraps, re-roll, and continue cutting until all the dough is used up.
  5. Place the cutouts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake the biscuits for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they are golden and firm.
  3. Transfer the baked biscuits to a wire rack to cool to room temperature.

Notes

  • Ensure that the peanut butter you use does not contain xylitol, a sweetener that is toxic to dogs.
  • You can make oat flour by blending uncooked old-fashioned oats in a blender or food processor until they reach a flour-like consistency.
  • The number of biscuits may vary based on the size of your cookie cutter or mold. Using a 4-inch dog bone cookie cutter, this recipe yields approximately 8 dog biscuits.
