- ½ cup applesauce
- ¼ cup creamy peanut butter (natural, unsweetened)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
- 2 cups oat flour
Instructions
Dough
- In a bowl, combine the applesauce, peanut butter, egg, and melted coconut oil.
- Mix the wet ingredients together using a mixer or by hand.
- Add the oat flour and mix until well combined. The dough will be sticky.
Method 1 – Molds:
- Press the dough into silicone molds.
- Place the molds on a baking sheet.
Method 2 – Cutouts:
- Place the dough in the refrigerator for about 1 hour to firm up.
- Roll the chilled dough out onto a flat surface until it's about 1/3-inch thick.
- Use your preferred cookie cutter to cut out shapes. If the dough is still too sticky, add a little more oat flour.
- Gather the dough scraps, re-roll, and continue cutting until all the dough is used up.
- Place the cutouts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the biscuits for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they are golden and firm.
- Transfer the baked biscuits to a wire rack to cool to room temperature.
Notes
- Ensure that the peanut butter you use does not contain xylitol, a sweetener that is toxic to dogs.
- You can make oat flour by blending uncooked old-fashioned oats in a blender or food processor until they reach a flour-like consistency.
- The number of biscuits may vary based on the size of your cookie cutter or mold. Using a 4-inch dog bone cookie cutter, this recipe yields approximately 8 dog biscuits.
