Cranberries
Whether cooked down or baked into pies, there's nothing like cranberries during the holidays. You can expect to start seeing fresh cranberries in the grocery store around mid-October. Unfortunately, cranberries have a short season and we always recommend to freeze some so you can have them when they aren’t in season!
BUY IT
When picking your cranberries, make sure to double check that there aren’t mushy or overly soft cranberries in the mix. Look for plump and firm cranberries.
ADD IT
There are so many ways to cook with cranberries. Their beloved flavor makes it great for desserts and a side for you Thanksgiving table!
You can cook fresh cranberries by roasting in a 400 degree oven until softened and slightly caramelized about 15-20 minutes.
To make a cranberry sauce, combine 3 cups cranberries and 1 cup sugar in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar melts but cranberries are still intact, about 5 minutes. Let cool, then transfer.
PREP IT
Once at home, you can keep cranberries cold and in the fridge where they'll stay fresh for about a month.
