Peaches
The delicious peach is said to have been around since the 10th century. It first originated in China and was brought to America in the 17th century. The peach is in fact a stone fruit. May is the beginning of peach season and continues until late September, but peach season is at its peak in July and August.
Buy It
Squeezing peaches will help to tell you what stage they're at. Gently press or squeeze where the stem was and if it just starts to give, it's ripe and ready to eat.
Add It
Peaches come in many shapes and size. They are very juicy, very sweet, and are perfect to eat straight off the tree! But, you can use them in all sorts of ways from delicious pies, homemade jams to puting them straight on the grill.
Prep It
Peaches can be easily peeled or cut with a knife. If you plan on removing the pit, slice the peach in half around the pit, twist the halves and remove the pit.
