Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup strong black coffee
  • 1/4 tsp rum extract (for non-alcoholic version)
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder for garnish (optional)
  • Optional: 2 tsp light brown sugar or 1 tsp maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Fill a glass mug with 2⁄3 cup of hot coffee. Add the sugar and rum extract and stir until dissolved. Allow the mixture to stand still until it has completely stopped swirling.
  2. Meanwhile, beat the cream in a medium bowl until it's thick and airy, but still pourable. Transfer the whipped cream to a jug with a spout.
  3. Pour the cream over the back of a spoon right in the center of each mug to create a smooth and even layer on top of the coffee.
  4. Dust the cream with cocoa powder (or cinnamon) for garnish, and serve immediately.

Notes

Enjoy this warm and comforting beverage any time of day, without the alcohol!
